Maharashtra
The Aga Khan Palace was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in Pune, India. Built in 1892, it is one of the biggest landmarks in Indian history. Aga Khan Palace is a majestic building and is considered to be one of the greatest marvels of India.
Ajanta Ellora Caves
The caves are carved in the rock face which is in the face which is in the form of a horse-shoe through which flows the stream Waghora. Situated in these beautiful surroundings are 30 Buddhist caves some unfinished comprising of either viharas.
Elephanta Caves
The Elephanta Island is located 10 km away from the Gateway of India. There are various rock cut temples present in these caves, which are as old as 5th century. The Elephanta Island was named by the Portuguese, after the statue of an elephant near the landing area of the island.
Gateway of India
Mumbai's most famous monument, this is the starting point for most tourists who want to explore the city. It was built as a triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary, complete with four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow basalt stone.
Haji Ali Mosque
The Haji Ali Dargah is a mosque and dargah (tomb) located on an islet off the coast of Worli in the Southern part of Mumbai. Near the heart of the city proper, the dargah is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Mumbai.
Shahaji Chhatrapati Museum
Shahaji Chhatrapati Museum is at fresh Palace in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Curious and interesting set from the possessions of Maharaja Shahaji Chhatrapati like guns, trophies and clothes are potted here.
Gujarat
Hriday Kunj
This is the place where Mahatma Gandhi resided. Gandhiji initiated the movement of non violence and freedom struggle for India from this small house which is preserved as a national monument at Gandhi Ashram.
Lothal
History dates back to Indus Valley Civilization which leave behind the ruins of Lothal, the first Indian Port between 1800-2400 BC. It also shows a very high degree of town planning, like other sites in the Indus valley.
Goa
Ancestral Goa situated at Laoulim. Built in a green hillside, a guided trek takes one down the Goan memory lane. Amidst a variety of rare wild flowers and mushrooms, a variety of exquisite insects and mushrooms and birds are also sighted.
Archaeological Museum
This used to be a wing of the old Franciscan monastery and was converted to a museum in 1964. On exhibit is a selection of pre-colonial and post colonial artifacts.
